Chapter Twenty-Four

“Oh darling, how could you?”

At first he couldn’t answer. But when Nurse Drake shifted to confront him Karl fought down his upset. He’d screwed up horribly, and maybe suffered an irreparable setback. He needed to limit the damage immediately, both to himself and to his relationship with his savior. He was in the doghouse with her now, and never having really toured it he had no idea how deep, dark or dangerous it was. Nor did he know how difficult it might be to get out of. He could only be humbly contrite and a hundred-percent honest with her.

“I want you to explain yourself, young man.”

Those uncannily percipient eyes bored into him. Karl met them meekly from inches away. He described the sequence leading up to the unanticipated trigger.

Without being either cringing or defiant he maintained his good faith. It was an accident, pure and simple, and not exactly enormously unlikely considering the circumstances. Babies had been born the world over time immemorial through similar slips of the dick. No doubt the men were usually at fault, but here he didn’t believe it so.

Nurse Drake listened patiently, those penetrating eyes professionally neutral throughout. Nervously repeating himself despite the honesty of his conviction, Karl found he’d circled back to the triggering instant.

“I was sure I had a few, even several more seconds. I knew you were right on the brink, so I held out as long as I could. But then you dropped a little more and humped a little harder, and just as my face was finally buried between your boobs, my tip caught on you a second. It felt like I was actually about to slip all the way in. It was unexpected, overwhelming, and ejaculation was instantaneous. It was nothing I intended or could prevent or would have ever abetted, even unconsciously or through some self-destructive impulse. I want to get well. I trust your methods implicitly and I remain devoted to them and to you absolutely.”

Karl shut up before he could begin babbling. Doreen took his measure a moment longer. Her eyes probed him deep, yet he met her openly and let her. At last she spoke.

“I understand what you are saying. I believe you that you didn’t do this deliberately. I remember what happened; it made me come too. That doesn’t absolve you however.

“You can claim honest accident all you want and be technically correct, Karl. But your mistake was still the same one men have always made: you never should have let it get that far.

“I had no way of knowing your limits; the responsibility for stopping me was totally on you. Don’t you grasp the stakes here boy? You should have erred on the side of caution and stopped me before the crisis was so close.

“I’ll accept that you risked everything for me. That’s flattering, and appreciated. But it’s unjustifiable. If I’m to be tortured by thwarted lust, then it’s my bad luck and fair payback to you. So though I find you
